Football season certainly looks a little different this year, but rural Georgians are coming up with new and exciting ways to cheer on their favorite team from home.
As you're planning for upcoming tailgating parties, check out some of our team's ideas to make your rural Georgia tailgate unforgettable.
From our team to yours:
Scott Blount
Favorite tailgate food: Ribs on the grill with a good dry-rub are hard to beat. Also, any sausage from Lee’s, which is based in Alma, Georgia.
Favorite team: Georgia Bulldogs
Idea of a perfect tailgating day: Spending a crisp fall day with friends grilling out is something I look forward to whenever possible. A big Dawgs win is always great, but with everyone’s busy schedules, win or lose football season provides an occasion to get together and catch up.
Janet Cochran
Favorite tailgate food: Something cooked on the grill is always a win, whether it’s burgers, ribs or fish. Add to it a great salad with lots of veggie variety, and our tailgate menu is complete.
Favorite team: Usually Georgia Bulldogs, but always SEC!
Idea of a perfect tailgating day: A large screen TV and plenty of room for an enthusiastic crowd is the right setting for our family. Everyone’s welcome!
Bridgett Mobley
Favorite tailgate food: A gathering in the south wouldn't be complete without a charcuterie board. I love to add cheeses from Sweet Grass Dairy and Grumps Pepper Jelly.
Favorite team: Georgia Bulldogs!
Idea of a perfect tailgating day: The perfect day would be spent at home watching the game with friends on the back porch in front of a fire. The big kids are typically throwing the football in between plays while the littles are roasting marshmallows and playing tag.
Jessica Akins
Favorite tailgate food: You can never go wrong with a good burger. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just seasoned well and grilled to perfection!
Favorite team: Can I say the Atlanta Braves? Ha. I am more of a baseball fan than a football fan, but if I had to pick a football team, I am going to stay with my second alma mater – Florida Gators! We are a house divided since my husband is a huge Georgia fan.
Idea of a perfect tailgating day: A perfect tailgate would include a sunny, cool fall day where we can enjoy the whole game at home, hang out with friends, and enjoy good food with them. We are on the go a lot so we usually catch games on the radio when we are wrapping up the day on the farm or going to and from different events and activities.
Loren Lindler
Favorite tailgate food: A tailgate wouldn’t be complete without an ultimate burger bar, including a variety of toppings – bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and so much more. But, the best burgers start with the best beef, so I recommend sourcing from a Georgia Grown producer.
Favorite team: South Carolina Gamecocks
Idea of a perfect tailgating day: The perfect tailgate includes hanging out at home with my family and enjoying my mom’s tailgating fixings. She always has the perfect spread and cooks everyone’s favorites, so it is sure to be a good time.
Charley Lollis
Favorite tailgate food: Velveeta Cheese Dip
Favorite team: The Georgia Bulldogs, of course!!
Idea of a perfect tailgating day: To me, a perfect tailgating day is joined with family and food. Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are loud on the TV, but my family is cheering even louder!
